Lesson Prices and Booking Information
*Please note that all times below refer to UK time.

Lesson length, days and times
I schedule online lessons around other teaching and research commitments, but can advise you of availability when you get in touch. My office hours are Monday to Friday, 9am to 6pm. I am very flexible regarding holidays - please see the FAQ page for details.

Prices for one-hour lessons are listed below. Please contact me if you would prefer a different length of lesson. The higher price for lessons between 3 and 6pm reflects the higher overheads for me when teaching at these times.

First and subsequent lessons

You will pay for your first lesson at the time of booking. This will be charged at the applicable single lesson price. After your first lesson, if you would like to continue, we will usually agree a regular lesson day/time and interval (usually weekly or fortnightly). You will then be invoiced in advance for lessons in four-lesson blocks. The cost of your first lesson will be deducted from the price of your first lesson block so that, if you choose to continue, your first lesson is free.

Regular lessons - lesson blocks

It is my aim to make tuition in ancient languages affordable and accessible, and I therefore do everything I can to keep lesson prices as low as possible. To help me achieve this, I invite students to commit to paying in advance for blocks of four lessons and to attending lessons on a regular day and time. In return for this commitment, I apply a discount to the usual full lesson price when calculating the cost of blocks of four lessons, and reserve your regular lesson time and day for you while you remain a student.

Occasional lessons

Some students prefer to have lessons at irregular intervals or at intervals longer than a fortnight. I am happy to accommodate this when I can. Each occasional lesson will be scheduled individually and will be charged at the applicable single lesson price.

Individual or group lessons?

You can choose either to have one-to-one lessons or to share your lessons with friends.

If you want a lesson tailored to you, an individual lesson is the best option.

Shared lessons work well for groups of two or three students who get on well together and who have very similar levels of knowledge, goals in learning and time available to study outside lesson time. They are an enjoyable way to get together with friends virtually to pursue a common interest and, of course, you can split the lesson cost between you.

To ensure that all students get plenty of attention, the maximum number of students in one-hour lessons is three.
